Women, Wine and Wisdom!
Join the NWC on Thursday, February 27th at 7pm in the Norwich Inn for a glass of wine, some light appetizers, and a short presentation by Mary Teachout. Come meet other women of the Upper Valley, share your stories, and hear how Mary navigated her law career and motherhood in Norwich!
Mary Miles Teachout has served as a trial court judge in Vermont for the past twenty-seven years, during which time she has conducted hundreds of trials and authored numerous opinions. She moved to Norwich in 1975 with her husband Peter and two young children. She had just completed law school and began working with Norris Hoyt, the first lawyer to practice in Norwich in over 100 years. She worked as a lawyer in private practice in Norwich over the next 17 years as the law firm grew. During that time, she helped raise five children who went to the Marion Cross School and Hanover High School. In 1992, she was appointed by Governor Dean to be a Superior Court Judge. Since then, she has served as a trial judge in all Vermont counties and from time to time has sat with the Vermont Supreme Court by special appointment.
