Dear NWC Members,
What a long, strange trip it’s been! Since the Spring Gala was cancelled in March 2020, all of our traditional events have moved online or outside. In a few days 80% of eligible Vermonters will have received their first vaccine dose, and restrictions will be lifted. On June 13th the Women’s Club will host its first concert on Norwich Green since 2019. Although the pandemic is far from over, we’re beginning to see the light at the end of a very long tunnel. We have every hope that, going forward, NWC events can begin to return to their normal formats.
The Norwich Women’s Club could not have made it through this year without the unwavering support of our members. You attended Women, Wine and Wisdom Presentations, Virtual Coffee Hours, the Fall Gathering, and even an online Gala. You bid on our online auction items (and donated those items!). You answered the call to donate to our winter fundraiser, and you gave generously with your membership dues. Because of all this, we were able to give out $28,000 in post-secondary scholarships and $35,000 in Community Project Grants.
In any normal year we’d be gathering in a few weeks for our annual June Meeting - a potluck luncheon that highlighted the culinary skill of NWC members. The June Meeting was always our big push for membership renewal, but this, like everything else, has gone virtual. So please: now is the time to renew your NWC membership, and perhaps include a donation to help fund the coming year’s scholarship and grant requests. The need we see in our community for both scholarships and project grants will not abate as the pandemic winds down; we rely on you, our members, to help us realize our impact on Norwich.
